TEHRAN – Australian philosophy lecturer Matthew Abbott’s book on the legendary Iranian filmmaker Abbas Kiarostami has recently been published in Persian by Lega Publications in Tehran.

Translated by Saleh Najafi, “Abbas Kiarostami and Film-Philosophy” presents a powerful new film-philosophy through the cinema of Kiarostami.

Abbott argues that Kiarostami’s films carry out cinematic thinking: they do not just illustrate pre-existing philosophical ideas, but do real philosophical work.

The book was originally published in English by Edinburgh University Press in 2016.
